A wildfire has been blazing for nearly 3 days now in central Californias Mariposa county, just right outside of Yosemite National Park. This raging wildfire has burned nearly 13,000 acres and forced evacuations of thousands of rural communities.

Officials have stated that the fire is about 10% contained. This fire began on Friday in the foothills of Sierra, Nevada, near a small community of maples, which is roughly a 9 Mile Drive Northeast of the town of Mariposa.

Electricity service for the entire area has been off since Friday evening, and residents have stated that this is a very fast-moving fire, burning hundreds of acres in just 30 minutes. As of right now, the fire has burned about 1300 acres and fire activity was extremely high and is currently still too big to contain.

More than 400 fire personnel, along with 45 fire engines, and 4 helicopters have been assigned to help fight flames and keep them away from residential neighborhoods, they have also set up a red Cross evaluation center at a nearby Mariposa elementary school.
