The green comet, known officially as C/2022 E3, which hasn't passed Earth since the time of the Neanderthals has recently reappeared in the sky and will soon make its closest approach to the planet within the next few weeks.

The comet was discovered back in March by astronomers at the Zwicky Transient Facility at the Palomar Observatory in California.

Astronomers calculated that the comet orbits the sun every 50,000 years, which means that our planet hasn't seen this comet since the Stone Age.

The comet will be the closest to Earth on Wednesday and Thursday next week as it will be shooting past the planet at 2.5 light minutes – a mere 27 million miles which will make it virtually visible in any location, including a good portion of bigger cities known for light pollution.
