Today, Apple announced a new, bigger, and better HomePod. The HomePod is a smart speaker made by Apple with amazing sound quality and Siri built in (I use mine every day). With this bigger size compared to the HomePod Mini, it houses more audio features, such as an extra woofer and 5 tweeters. With all of this, the HomePod is able to sense the room it’s in with echolocation, allowing for a more spatial experience. It does this by moving lead voices or instruments into the center of the room and pushing the backup band into the walls, to make it feel like the band or singer is right in the room.

It also has some really cool features that work with your other devices. For example, if you’re listening to music on your phone, you can tap your phone to the HomePod and the music magically transfers to your house. It also has intercom, so any devices that are in the house can be alerted of anything, like asking how the game’s going in the living room and announcing that dinner is ready. Apple also makes sure that that your data stays private property, by storing your data in a place that even Apple can’t access and read. Even though it starts at $300, for the spatial audio, enhanced sound, and integration with your devices, it’s worth the cost.
