With iOS 16, you can now edit and unsend messages; but what could that mean for the future of cyberbullying? It'll become easier for people abuse this feature, but how can you stop it?

In the iOS 16 update, there are so many new features announced besides these iMessage enhancements, such as lock screen customization options and passkeys, They even added a way to mark message conversations as unread! These are software updates, which mean that you don't have to have the latest phone to get these  new features.

But back to messaging, how can this be used against you? To start, there are time limits for everything. For example, undo send can only be used within two minutes of when the original message was sent, and editing messages has a 15 minute time limit.

Secondly, you can view edit history. Whenever someone edits a message, it will say it's been edited on your end, and you can click on that to see the history. Therefore, if someone sends something harmful and edits it to hide it, you can view what they originally sent and send it to the proper authorities.

While there isn't anything that can combat undo send yet, you still can pull off the good old screenshot! Simply press the up volume button and power button at the same time, and a photo will be taken. Then, when they undo the message, you still have proof that they were bullying you.

With all these problems with the new messaging features, there are solutions to them. With the ability to take screenshots, edit history, and just limiting time to view the messages, it shouldn't be a reason to not upgrade to iOS 16.
