The United States food and drug administration issued on Thursday marketing denial orders to Juul labs, for all products currently listed on market in the United States.
what this means for a juul is that they must stop selling and distributing almost every product they have for sale within the United States including e-cigarettes pins and its tobacco and menthol flavored pods.
According to the FDA all products must be removed from the US market immediately or the company risks "enforcement action"
These orders will not affect customers that currently own products and will not punish people who use juul products. these orders are simply for the company juul labs to start producing and selling products within the US market, as according to the FDA "their products do not meet the public health standards".
"Today's action is further progress on the FDA's commitment to ensuring that all e-cigarette and electronic nicotine delivery system products currently being marketed to consumers meet our public health standards, - FDA Commissioner Robert M. Califf "
This product ban follows a broad two-year investigation into juul which needed FDA authorization for its e-cigarettes to stay on the market. The FDA says that although this product was initially marketed towards former smokers, it’s almost as or in most cases more dangerous that cigarettes themselves especially since as of lately the market has shifted towards younger people.
