According to TechRadar, there are solid rumors going around that Google is going to release their answer to Apple AirTag this year, called G Spot. The funny part, in case it wasn't obvious, was the text written on the bottom, which reads "you have found my G Spot."
The advantage of this tracker, like most non-smartphone hardware made by Android phone manufacturers, is that it works with other devices that aren't made by the same manufacturer, unlike AirTags, which only work with Apple devices. Also, the same leaker that revealed G Spot revealed that Google is working with 3rd party hardware manufacturers to integrate Fast Pair into their hardware.

According to Engadget, the project is under the codename Grogu, and is being developed by the Google Nest team. There is speculation that it will support Ultra-wideband (UWB), but Bluetooth Low-Energy should suffice if your phone doesn't support UWB. As said in the beginning, it could also be announced at Google I/O this year.
