During Apple's yearly WWDC event, they unveiled a new app designed for iOS devices - the Journal app. This app is presumably a work in progress, with plans for updates that will lead to its official launch alongside iOS 17.2.

In its current beta version, the Journal app seems to be functioning smoothly when installed alongside the developer's version of iOS 17.2.

When you open the app for the first time, you're asked to set up helpful security measures, like using Face ID, and it's likely that Apple will add more security features in the future as this makes the writing inside feel a lot more private.

Using the Journal app for writing is straightforward. It doesn't require you to come up with wasteful titles, making it easy for extended writing without any distracting elements or hidden costs, unlike its competitors.

However, there are some quality-of-life features that the app is currently missing. For instance, you can't track your emotions over time. It would be incredibly helpful to have an AI system that provides prompts to enhance your journaling experience.

This is an incredibly promising start from Apple, especially considering it's in its beta stage of development. It's clear that Apple is committed to refining and expanding the app's features.
