Last week Lava launched their latest smartphone Lava Agni 2 5G, which hit the Internet by storm.

The budget segment which has been dry for the last year or so, so has got a new benchmark through this latest Lava phone?

In case you don't know, LAVA is a smartphone brand owned by Lava Internationals, which is located in Noida, India.

This packs in crazy features for the price like 6.78 inch 120hz 10-bit curved OLED, the latest MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, and a 66W PD charging with charger inside the box.

The segment, which is mostly based on the Snapdragon 695, which is good, but not best for the price chipset. 7050 brings in meaningful upgrades like HDR playback, 4K recording, etc.‌

The main feature of Agni 2 is the segment-best curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports HDR 10+ with 950 nits peak brightness. The bezels are significantly less, even compared to some devices double their price.

You also get a clean close to stock Android experience with Lava promising 2 years of major OS updates with 3 years of quarterly security patches

Cons:

The cameras are very average with not much optimization. You get a 50MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth camera. The rear camera can take up to 4K 30fps video while the selfie camera is clocked at 1080p at 30fps.‌‌

The UI which is stock Android with some customisations have some bugs in general which have to be corrected using an update. The camera app feels very buggy and outdated by today's standards, with no microSD card slot and no headphones jack, as well as mono speakers.

Lava also promises a free replacement at your doorstep during the warranty period.

The only variant of Lava Agni 2 (8GB + 256GB) is at a price of ₹21,999 (~$266 USD) with a special offer price of ₹19999 (~$241 USD.)

In short, Lava Agni 2 is a big warning for other brands who are focusing on a higher price range and giving overpriced phones at this price!
