Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series of games, has launched a new YouTube channel about designing video games. In the first video on the channel, Sakurai states that his goal for the channel is to "try and help make games around the world a little more fun." He also says you won't need to be a game design expert to enjoy his channel, everyone is welcome. Sakurai also says that by covering many topics on his channel, he hopes to "help more people see what game dev is all about."
Sakurai says he'll try to keep his videos between 2 and 5 minutes, a "nice, bite-sized amount." There are two versions of the channel: a Japanese-language one and an English-language one.
He's also been given permission by Nintendo to show some internal stuff like Smash development builds and his own design documents. Sakurai says he's not looking to profit off the channel, so he's not putting in any midroll ads or anything like that.
Three videos are already up on the channel: A video detailing what the channel is about, a video compilation of Masahiro Sakurai's creative works, and a "Design Specifics" video.
