According to 9to5Google, Meta's Reality Labs division announced in an internal presentation Tuesday that was about new hardware that they are currently working on a pair of smart glasses. They say that it should have a "viewfinder" display and control via handmovements on a imaginary D-pad.
It is also reported that these smart glasses may also be able to work with a watch, rather than be a standalone device, as most other devices of it's kind have done until now. This comes ahead of Meta recently canceling a smartwatch with a detachable frame and camera.
So, what does Mark Zuckerberg have to say about all this? Well, according to Engadget, he says that this could be Meta's "iPhone moment," indicating that he believes that this new developing hardware could reach a level of popularity that has only been majorly seen with the iPhone.
In the meanwhile however, Meta is currently also developing a second generation of the Ray-Ban Stories, but this time they will be partnering with Luxottica. It is apparent that the successor to the Luxottica-Facebook 2nd gen Ray-Ban Stories will be the smart AR glasses mentioned previously.
