According to The Independent, Microsoft has reported that Bing, their equivalent to Google, has just passed 100 million active users, as a result of Bing AI. Bing AI is a new feature of Bing that uses the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, as well as their own search results, to generate AI written answers to your internet queries.
Bing AI has had 45 million people test it since it's launch, and 1/3 of the people who are part of the Preview are using it daily, according to Windows Central. Microsoft knows this is very small compared to the monster 1 billion person user base that Google has built up, but they are happy with the growth.
Another contributor to this usage surge is the release of the Bing mobile app. This app has allowed for 6x more growth in active users of Bing. Microsoft will hold an event on March 16 where it plans on talking about the future of AI and what its plans are as far as what they want to do with this technology.
What is Google doing about this? Well, according to Engadget, they also have plans to integrate an in-house chatbot called Bard into their search engine. They still have some work to do however, as when the bot was shown at it's unofficial debut, it showcased inaccurate information.
