New iPads and Apple TV 4K announced via press release

Today in a press release, Apple announced a redesigned iPad 10th gen and an iPad Pro with the M2 chip. However, most people seemed to miss the underwhelming Apple TV update, with a better processor and fewer ports on the box.

Starting with the new iPad, it features a redesign, which has 4 new colors, a newer look, and a USB-C charging port. The heart of it is the A14 Bionic, which features 6 cores of CPU and 4 cores of GPU, which is good for casual streaming and even a few graphic games. It also got a camera boost, with a 12-megapixel back camera capable of 4K video, and a 12-megapixel front camera that is now positioned horizontally, which is great now that most people use their iPad as a computer. It also comes with a new keyboard specifically designed for the iPad called the Magic Keyboard Folio. It has an adjustable stand and a full-size keyboard with a full trackpad. The display also got a spec bump, with a 10.9-inch display in almost the same form factor as the previous generation. The new iPad starts at $449, which is $150 more than the previous generation.

Up next, we have the iPad Pro, which didn't have much in the department of news. It has an M2 chip, which has a 15% faster CPU and 35% faster GPU than the previous M1 model. Along with this spec bump, they announced some new apps coming to iPad: Davinci Resolve, Octane X, and Affinity Publisher. They did not elaborate on this, so we don't know if it will be M2 iPad Pro exclusive or coming to more devices. The display can also now check if your Apple Pencil is 12 mm away using hover. When the iPad detects your Apple Pencil, it can do a range of things, such as see your mark in markup, copy colors in Procreate, and automatically enlarge text boxes in Scribble. It also has better connectivity, with Wifi 6E on all models. This allows for faster downloads and uploads. You also get 5G everywhere, so you can access all your files anywhere you want. Oh yeah and ProRes capture on the back camera, but that really doesn't matter

Finally, we got the thing a lot of people skimmed over; the new Apple TV 4K. It features an A15 bionic, which allows for support for HDR 10+ in addition to Dolby Vision, which "expands rich visual quality across more TVs, producing the eye-popping details and vibrant colors intended by content creators," Apple says. It comes with the previous siri remote, with a click-wheel like interface. They also showed off new featues in TvOS 16, with a updates to Siri and the Siri interface. It also got cheaper because of the death of the HD model, now starting at $129.

And last but not least, iPadOS 16 and MacOS Ventura got their final release dates, being available on October 24. They both feature stage manager and iCloud Shared Photo Library, and iPadOS 16 gets a weather app and MacOS Ventura has continuity camera.
