Raspberry Pi just released the new iteration of their in-house camera module, promptly named the Camera Module 3. It is selling for $25 USD. It has a 12 MP resolution with autofocus. uses the Sony IMX708 sensor, and comes in 4 different camera angles, standard, wide angle, NOIR and NOIR wide angle, and supports high dynamic range (HDR), according to Tom's Hardware.
The Camera Module was the first accessory for the Raspberry Pi, with the product being released in 2013. It's successor, the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2, was released in 2016. According to Raspberry Pi, It took the 5MP resolution of the Camera Module 1 and cranked it up to 8MP. The Camera Module 3, as stated above, upgraded the 8MP resolution of the Camera Module 2 to 12MP.
