Tesla has issued a recall of nearly 1.1 million of its vehicles due to a mechanical window safety issue that can cause a person's fingers to be pinched when the window is being rolled up.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations website the system that automates the window reversal system may not react correctly after an obstruction is detected. This issue can cause the window to pinch someone's fingers increasing the risk of injury.
This recall covers the 2017-22 Model 3, 2020-21 Model Y, 2021-22 Model S, and the 2021-22 Model X. Tesla say that the issue will be resolved with an over-the-air update in mid-November. The recall will continue to remain active in the case that this software update doesn't fix the issue.
