Earlier today the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson announced that he will be resigning bringing an end to a unprecedented political crisis.
"It is clearly now the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader of that party and therefore a new prime minister," - Boris Johnson
Johnson states that the process to select his successor started the moment he announced his resignation, until a new Prime Minister is selected Boris Johnson will remain the acting Prime Minister.
Johnson states that it was painful for him to make this decision and noted that he had failed to push back against the onslaught of oppression from his own party ministers.
Boris Johnson has been the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for three years. The sudden resignation comes after two of Johnson’s top cabinet ministers quit this week which was then followed by 30 other government members closely related to Johnson.
