Well, this is peculiar. Nintendo have just released system updates 11.16.0-48 (3DS) and 5.5.6 (Wii U). Nintendo says that "Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."
I've updated my Wii U and 3DS, and it doesn't look like anything's changed. However, according to some homebrew developers, the agbhax exploit chain for the 3DS was patched. Nothing changed with the Wii U update.
A similarly barren update was pushed for the Wii U and 3DS last year, so maybe Nintendo will keep updating these consoles anually.
